AI (Artificial Intelligence) Security
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Friday that artificial intelligence (AI) security is as important for India as its ambition to develop an AI ecosystem and startup innovation. Addressing the AI Security Summit 2023 in the UK, the Minister of State for Electronics and IT said that AI security at the cost of developing a digital economy is not a binary choice for India.
“India took a slightly different position from most countries there (AI Safety Summit). For us, safety is important, but safety is an issue accompanied by our goals and ambition to grow AI and make sure the ecosystem for AI, is strong. Startup innovation is as important a goal for us as the safety of AI. It is not a binary choice that we want to do safety at the expense of the risk of growth of the digital economy,”
Chandrasekhar.
The minister attended the AI Security Summit 2023, which was held in Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, with 28 countries participating, including the United States and China.
He said that it is not necessary to create a framework for artificial intelligence in America, Europe, or India, but rather to create a safe and reliable framework for countries around the world.
Asked about the impact of the US executive on temple development in India, the minister said that every country will have its own view on temple building, but it should be a model that is suitable for the world.
“Until a global framework is created, everyone in the monument system will continue to face the challenge of what one country will do in the event of the destruction of idols versus what other countries will do,”
the minister said.
He said that 28 countries have agreed to a strong review of security and trust, and now the method and practice of doing so will be discussed. The minister said the discussion will take place at GPAI (Global Partnership for Artificial Intelligence) 2023.
GPAI 2023 is scheduled to be held in India between December 12-14, 2023.
“Film represents a big opportunity for us in India, as it does for the rest of the world. Therefore, it should not be displayed at a level where we run out of experience and innovation. We should talk about how to create an atmosphere of security and trust and who should create an atmosphere of security and trust,” Chandrasekhar said.
The minister said that there were concerns about four different types of damage from buildings, including impact on architecture, religious discrimination in the workforce, non-traditional damage, and weaponization and criminalization of buildings.
“It is not yet proven that India sets up a safe and protected model. India should create a model that is safe and reliable and also teach the rest of the world,”
Chandrasekhar.
The minister said that the world will get some ideas on the religious festival platform after the Temple Summit to be held in South Korea around April–May 2024. Asked about his expectations of global stability during this time, the minister said that one is the lack of global stability in cyber security and the lack of innovation in global consultations in the last 15 years.
“There is a phrase called technical-optimism that says that all countries and institutions around the world just focus on advice. This whole incident of crime, damage, and cybercrime has reached its peak in the last 5-7 years. There is no global framework. There are some documents for the cooperation of CEE structures in different countries, but there is no comprehensive legal framework,”
Chandrasekhar.
He said that he definitely does not want to do injustice to the country’s ruins in a stagnant time.
Towards a Global AI Governance Framework
Minister Chandrasekhar's vision for global AI governance calls for a framework that is collaborative, ethical, and effective. He has proposed a multi-pronged approach that includes:
- Establishing clear principles and guidelines for AI development and deployment
- Enhancing international cooperation and collaboration in AI research and development
- Promoting the development of open-source AI tools and platforms
- Encouraging public education and awareness about AI
- Establishing mechanisms for monitoring and enforcing AI governance standards
